Our teachers have over 10 years of experience teaching children. We teach simplified Chinese characters and pinyin in a caring and nurturing environment. Children not only learn from textbooks but also through art and cultural activities to reinforce course material.

Our Team
Our dedicated teachers have over 10 years of teaching experience. They are the backbone of FCS and their expertise have helped to develop strong and confident bilingual children.

Ms. Lin LaoShi
Mrs. Lin has been a resident of La Canada since 1988. She has a Masters degree in Computer Science from Villanova University and has been teaching Chinese since 1994. She is deeply involved in the Southern California Council of Chinese Schools and is passionate about real estate.

Ms. Mui Pang
Ms. Christine completed her college degree with certificate of education and worked as a school teacher in China prior to moving to the States. She currently lives in Glendale and since 2005 has been the Educational Assistant for the Glendale Unified School District.
Courses
All classes are from 3:30pm to 5:30pm Mondays thru Fridays.

Beginner Chinese:
This class is best for children with no prior exposure to Chinese, it Introduces Chinese taught through hands on play, songs, art and craft, story based, and interactive comprehension based methods. The course is with a focus on listening and speaking. At the end of the course most students should recognize Chinese characters of basic greetings, school, family, sports, animals, foods, colors and numbers.
Core material: Better Chinese – My First Chinese Words
Chinese 1 (Listening! Speaking! Fun! ):
This course is designed for students from non-Chinese Speaking families and those who have completed Exposure to Chinese or have some prior knowledge of Chinese. With interactive classroom activities, the course seeks to help students develop basic skills in listening, speaking, reading and writing, this class focuses on reading basic Chinese characters. The topics include greetings, names, nationalities, school, family, home, dates, fruit, school supplies, food and more….
Text Book: Better Chinese – My First Chinese Reader Volume 1
Vocabulary words: about 100
Chinese 2A:
This class is designed for students who have basically completed My First Chinese Reader Volume 1 or have an equivalent knowledge of Chinese. This class will build upon material from past classes to help students speak Chinese in a more natural environment. This class built on Chinese characters previously learned in Chinese 1, and building a bigger vocabulary, we will focus more on reading and writing characters. The topics include colors, clothes, opposites, sports, pets, vehicles, prices, directions, weather, comparisons and more.
Text Book: Better Chinese – My First Chinese Reader Volume 2
Vocabulary words: about 200
Chinese 2B (Advance):
This class is designed for students who have essentially completed My First Chinese Reader Volume 1 or have an equivalent knowledge of Chinese. The students will continue to work on listening, speaking, reading and writing Chinese. This class will help students build up confidence in Chinese by reviewing and practicing the vocabularies and sentence structures learned in Volume 1.
Text Book: Better Chinese – My First Chinese Reader Volume 2
Vocabulary words: about 200-300
Chinese 3:
This class is designed for students who have basically completed My First Chinese Reader Volume 1 and Volume 2, or have an equivalent knowledge of Chinese. The students will continue to work on listening, speaking, reading and writing Chinese. The topics include using the phone, jobs, directions, the zoo, playing with friends, classes, eating at a Chinese restaurant, body parts and more.
Text Book: Better Chinese – My First Chinese Reader Volume 3
Vocabulary words: about 300
Chinese 4:
This class is designed for students who have basically completed My First Chinese Reader Volume 1, and 3, or have an equivalent knowledge of Chinese. The students will continue to work on listening, speaking, reading and writing Chinese. The topics include Chines holidays, shopping, birthday party, seasons, doctor’s visit, hobby, community, Chinese Zodiac, My Vacation, Getting to know China…
Text Book: Better Chinese – My First Chinese Reader Volume 4
Intermediate Chinese
This class is best for students whom have finished “My First Chinese Book volume 1-4 or students whom speak Chinese at home. This class helps to improve their ability to communicate better in Chinese, The students will continue to work on listening, reading, speaking and writing Chinese with focus on reading comprehension and using a wider vocabulary to describe things in writing paragraph.

Text Book: 美洲华语第三册,第四册,第五册
Vocabulary words: about 500-600
PRE-SAT Chinese:
This course is designed for students who have high expectations and goals for their Chinese learning. This course will prepare students for the Chinese SAT II Subject Test and the AP Chinese test.
